Delhi Metro the new life line of Delhi

Since the opening of station in December 31, 2005, Karol Bagh has seen a spurt in foot fall of shoppers, travelers and visitors.The Karol Bagh metro station plays a pivotal role in connecting this urban part of Delhi to the rest of it, Karol Bagh has become immensely more accessible to the people of Delhi.

The Station 

The entire station is at an elevated level with a total of two platforms:
a) Platform 1 (Direction Noida City Centre / Vaishali)
b) Platform 2 (Direction Dwarka sector 21)
The metro operates on blue line with a total 52 stations including 8 on the branch towards Vaishali. Karol Bagh is not only a commercial hub and shoppers paradise for many categories of items but also a big residential area, Metro has benefited them all in Delhi.

The station it self has 4 gates. Gate numbered 1 & 2 are on the south-west side, while gates numbered 3 & 4 are on the north east side. Gate numbered 3 & 4 are adjoining the Ajmal Khan Park and will it is these gates that cater to roughly 75% of the travelers.


The Arcade

The metro complex now houses many fast food outlets, shops on both sides of the road, the most prominent being Cafe Coffee Day.

The neighbors

The immediate adjoining stations are the Rajendra Place station (direction Dwarka sector 21) & Jhandewalan (direction Noida/ Vaishali). Whilst traveling most of the ingress and egress happens at this station and both the adjoining stations are scarcely used comparatively

The features

The blue line of Metro is one of the only lines to operate at level, elevated levels and underground levels. The coaches have been frequently upgraded and now they are 6 and 8 coach metros available on the blue line. It is electrified with a 25 kV, 50 Hz AC through overhead catenary. There are escalators and elevators available at the Karol Bagh Metro Station and is completely disable friendly.  The only station to operate at level is that of Yamuna bank. The station not only features over the sale of tickets but also has self services vending machines to buy, recharge your cards. Since this station caters to tourists as well there is a good amount of active checking.


All in all Delhi metro has not only helped in making the area more accessible it has bought karol Bagh, Delhi straight to the global platform owing to the easy access to tourists, this has directly resulted in increase in the number of accommodations and hotels being readied in karol bagh which has indirectly increased value of real estate too. Additionally reviews from sites like buy.guru have impacted sales of TWS earbuds and split ac, microwave ovens from ghaffar market. The Hotels not only have visits from outside Delhi but since they host conferences and seminars in their conferences in Delhi a lot of locals also use Delhi metro to avoid hassle of parking when on visit for a meeting, seminar or conference.
One of the best Hotel in Delhi is Hotel Metro View which is extremely close to the karol bagh metro station, inside the market yet cosy and comfortable and offers a spectacular open view of Karol bagh metro station from its terrace garden and lounge.
